Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet!
April 26, 2012

Coast2Coast Rx encourages you to participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day” this Saturday, April 28.

Unwanted, unused, or expired prescriptions can be deposited at many local sheriff’s departments and community sites across the country from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Consumers nationwide can search for their closest secure drop-off site by visiting the Collection Site Locator that the DEA has provided. When dropping off your medications please be sure that contents are in secure containers; collection staff will ensure that medications are disposed of safely.

With spring upon us, it’s time for a fresh start – time to clean out the old to make room for the new. While in spring-cleaning mode, make it a priority to clean out medicine cabinets and clear out expired prescription and over-the-counter drugs. While keeping prescriptions updated can be costly, doing so can be a significant step to a healthy lifestyle for individuals and families. In an effort to make prescription drugs and other healthcare services more affordable, the Coast2Coast Rx card provides millions of dollars in savings for individuals and families nationwide by offering discounts of up to 75 percent on more than 60,000 brand name and generic drugs. The Coast2Coast Rx can be a valuable asset to any household – even if you have a healthcare plan already, the card may be able to help you save on prescriptions or services not covered by your insurer. The program is especially helpful to those without health insurance or experiencing the Medicare Part D “donut hole.”

Make time to stop by your drop-off location this Saturday to clean out your medicine cabinet! As always, stay updated by including Coast2Coast Rx on your social network on Facebook and Twitter.

Out and About: A Weekend of Awareness for Coast2Coast Rx
April 26, 2012

Coast2Coast Rx was busy this weekend in San Diego, raising awareness for its prescription discount card program and distributing the card to the community. On April 21, Coast2Coast helped support Access to Independence at its annual benefit gala, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services to individuals with disabilities and promotes options that empower them to choose and maintain their own lifestyles.

Like many organizations that promote independence and self-sufficiency, Access to Independence helps its consumers prepare for and secure gainful employment, a critical function as statistics show that people with disabilities experience disproportionate employment rates. According to Access to Independence, the unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities in California has been more than 74 percent. When unemployment is a barrier to affordable health care services and necessary prescriptions, consumers should remember that Coast2Coast Rx may be able to help them save money on their prescriptions and other health care services. Whether employed or not, spending an excessive amount on a prescription is unnecessary when the Coast2Coast Rx card can help save up to 75% on thousands of prescriptions as well as providing discounts on certain healthcare services such as dental, vision and hearing services, and diabetes supplies.

Access to Independence Gala

Following a night at the gala, representatives from Coast2Coast Rx distributed the free discount cards at the San Diego Padres’ baseball game. Community events are an excellent venue for increasing awareness of the program and reaching consumers who can benefit from the cost-saving features of the card. If any company or organization has an upcoming event at which it would like to distribute Coast2Coast Rx cards to its attendees, please contact the Alarus Agency to receive a supply of cards, posters and display stands. Diverse crowds like the one the game are a reminder that the discount card can be a benefit to anyone, not just those without healthcare – make sure to take a look at the other healthcare services and the huge inventory of prescriptions that are available at discounted rates. If your healthcare plan doesn’t cover all your needs, you may be able to save on your out-of-pocket costs with the Coast2Coast Rx card.

We at Coast2Coast Rx are excited to step up to the plate to distribute the prescription discount cards at several San Diego Padres games throughout the 2012 season. On Sunday, April 22, representatives will distribute the free cards starting two hours before the first pitch. Fans can visit the Community Kiosk, located in the Park at the Park near the East Village Gate, to pick up a Coast2Coast Rx card—in fact, take one for yourself and additional cards to give to family and friends!

As the prescription discount program nears its one-year anniversary in San Diego County—with the approval of the Board of Supervisors it launched in June of last year—Coast2Coast Rx continues to form partnerships that increase awareness of the program while making the cards easily available to as many consumers as possible. With the help of the Padres, fans will have an opportunity to pick up cards in person. As always, cards are available any time by simply selecting your location and printing from the website— /index.php/print-free-card/.

The Coast2Coast Rx card is a simple way to save not only on prescriptions but also dental, vision and hearing services, as well as diabetes supplies. A free and easy way to save money on healthcare products and services that you and your family need—it’s a home run! Thanks to the San Diego Padres for supporting Coast2Coast Rx in its goal to provide savings and improve health for consumers.
