A Vision of Affordable Eye Care

May 10, 2012

Healthy Vision Month was established by National Eye Institute (NEI) in May 2003 to raise awareness of vision care as a health priority for the nation. Coast2Coast Rx encourages consumers to find out more about this important initiative.

In particular, Coast2Coast Rx reminds consumers to take steps to recognize and evaluate vision loss that often comes with aging. According to the the Association for Maculate-Disease, Age-Related Macular-Degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of vision loss in adults over the age of 50. AMD gradually destroys the macula, the part of the eye that provides sharp, central vision needed for seeing objects clearly. The early and intermediate stages of AMD usually start without symptoms, but scheduling a comprehensive dilated eye exam is a critical step to detect AMD. For more information on Age Related Macular-Degeneration visit the Association for Maculate-Disease at www.Macula.org.1

Millions of individuals in the United Statesare living with eye problems such as AMD and vision loss. The first step  towards improved eye health and vision care can be as simple (and critical!) as scheduling comprehensive dilated eye exams.

Prohibitive cost should not have to prevent individuals and families from maintaining their vision and eye health.
